On April 9, Hong Kong Beacon International Education signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Dongguan Laguna Verona Foreign Language School. The co-founder, Dr June Leung Ho-ki attended the signing ceremony and witnessed this historic moment. The two parties will leverage their respective strengths to offer HKDSE courses that integrate the educational foundations of Mainland China and Hong Kong. This initiative aims to meet diverse academic needs and to provide students with broader educational opportunities.

Laguna Verona Foreign Language School will become a partner school under Beacon’s BEAlliance School Partnership Scheme, which collaboratively builds a comprehensive education platform in the Greater Bay Area to facilitate enhanced teaching and learning exchanges. With shared teaching resources, Beacon’s database will incorporate data from students in Dongguan alongside the existing learning and evaluation data from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai. This will drive continuous improvement in teaching research and the refinement of the teaching system. Enhanced communication between teaching teams across regions will further be strengthened as a result of greater research capabilities and analysis of the HKDSE. HKDSE will become a key bridge for students to access global opportunities!

The curriculum will integrate the educational foundations of Mainland China and Hong Kong, drawing on the strengths of both schools to offer students a wider and more diverse range of options. This approach aims to meet the needs of students and parents pursuing different academic pathways. Both parties are committed to advancing international education cooperation in the Greater Bay Area, responding to the call to “build a hub for education and talent and support the establishment of an international education demonstration zone in the Greater Bay Area.” This initiative will allow more students to benefit from professional academic and university admission services.

Event Highlights

Dongguan Laguna Verona Foreign Language School is a high-quality boarding school offering primary, junior high, and high school education. Since its establishment in 2019, it has achieved remarkable success, garnering numerous accolades such as Guangdong Green School, Guangdong Nutrition and Health Model School, Guangdong Model School for Rule of Law, Guangdong Campus Basketball Promotion School, Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Pilot School, and Dongguan’s Characteristic School for Mental Health Education.

Mr. Jeff Tam, Chief Operating Officer of Beacon Group, emphasized that HKDSE, as a globally recognized bilingual secondary education qualification, has unique international education features, particularly suitable for students with Chinese as their mother tongue. The examination is open to Mainland students, regardless of nationality or Hong Kong residency, with results recognized by universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and overseas. Hong Kong students can use HKDSE results to gain admission to the University of Hong Kong, certain Mainland Chinese universities, and overseas universities. Non-Hong Kong students can also use the HKDSE pathway to access universities in Hong Kong and abroad. The subjects in the HKDSE are highly aligned with the general high school curriculum in Mainland China, making it easier for students with a solid academic foundation to adapt.

Through this strategic cooperation, Beacon and Dongguan Laguna Verona Foreign Language School will adopt Beacon’s extensive teaching experience and materials, implementing a “bilingual dual-teacher” model with professional teaching staff from Hong Kong and Mainland China. The curriculum will also include various extracurricular activities, interest clubs, and practical experiences. Moreover, students will receive career planning support and “one-on-one” university admission counseling, creating a more diversified educational environment for them.
